Re: Fried bread
Was always a staple part of Sunday morning breakfast when Oxsaw was growing up.

Soaked up all the fat/dripping used to fry the sausages, bacon (that actually tasted like bacon) and eggs.

Used to set me up for the morning out delivering milk. Did I mention that I used to deliver milk as a lad? Anyway, as a lad...

Bread fried in bacon fat - Yum.
Delicious with mushrooms and beans and fr superior to hash browns. How did those yank interlopers get anywhere near a full english?

Re: Fried bread
I've recently discovered the pleasure of oven-baked croutons.

Twice-cooking bread in three different ways returns somewhat different results, all pleasurable: fried, grilled (= toast) and baked.

Must've inspired the bis-cuit

Great stuff, not had it for years.

Always incapable of making it myself to a standard worthy enough.

Re: Fried bread
My grill and toaster broke down a few years back and was "forced" to put me bread in the pan after I'd cooked the bacon.

Brought back childhood memories but I could never quite get it like me mum made it.

I can never get French Toast right either but do a wicked Welsh rarebit. "Worcester sauce" the key

Re: Fried bread
Some people put salt and pepper on it then make it into a sandwich with plain white bread.

Sounds perfectly healthy to me :)
